2018

Happy New year y’all! Congratulations! For year 2018, you made it through happy, sad, grieving, and spontaneous seasons, but look at you now! It’s a new year with new goals and hopes. I think 2019 is going to be great for you, just keep your eye on the prize.

Since I can remember, my husband and I would look at each other before the beginning of each year and we would always say, “get ready this is going to be a good year.” A verbal list would evolve, and thankfully we would always check the goals off that list. We are very goal oriented people, and really since dating, marriage, military life, and children each year has been bigger and bigger.

2018, was visually different than anything we could have dreamt. And, after a long season of prayer God placed us in a new life that has been nothing short of a blessing for our family. I remember one night in particular when I heard the Lord audibly for the first time. I was in bed before our big move from our home state and I heard the word, “stay.” This was a time where the Lord had a hold of me and my family so tight that I could see the Lord in everything surrounding me. I was confused when I heard his word, because our decision to move had already been made. But, looking back I realize that he didn’t physically want me to stay he wanted me to stay with him through our next season. To fully trust his reveal.

I have a few goals for the year, but I know it will take dedication, hard work, and overall the expectation of failure. Without failure, there’s no progress right? As far as my blog, which just hit its first anniversary, I have had some posts that received more attention than others. So, I know I have some work to do. Below is my favorite post:

As you step into the new year, really listen to God, He’s speaking to you! And, when He does you’ll know it.

As I was journaling last year, a poem just fell onto the pages within minutes. We were making life changing decisions that we prayed over for months. And, as I listened peace filled our hearts with our decisions. I hope this speaks to you as well.

“I look around, I’m not familiar with this place

Show me Lord, what giant am I about to face?

I see sudden glimpses and hear muffled words,

What’s coming Lord? Where do my gifts and heart merge?

My mind is coveting things of this earth,   But, is my soul escaping a chance of rebirth?

Lord, lead me through this array of questions

I’m waiting here on your casting impression.”

The Lord doesn’t want you to fear the future, because it will blind you to the molded Truth. Isaiah 41:10 says it the best, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

I’ve learned so much through this year of blogging. I wanted the focus of this blog to center around simple-affordable ways to decorate and positive words of encouragement. Unfortunately, I did not have as many encouraging posts so I will be working more on that this year. One of my main goals this year is to read the Bible in its entirety, so I will take you in that journey as well.

As far as decor, I have a few projects in mind and I hope you will follow along. I’m looking forward to some winter posts, so those will be coming in the near future.

I hope you’ve enjoyed following along with me, and if you have any suggestions I’m all ears.

Happy New Year!
